About Mimi
Mimi prefers writing about other people and things but here we go:
She's worked in all types of publishing (book, magazine, online) as both a writer and editor, and dipped into corporate communications for a bit as well. Employers include Random House and MTV Networks, the former of which — to her delight — ended up publishing her first book, the satirical title The Dictionary of Corporate Bullshit. Highlights of her time at MTV Networks include working the VMA red carpet and witnessing Justin and Britney in matching denim ensembles; meeting Barbara Feldman AKA Get Smart's Agent 99 (she is lovely), and telling original VJ Mark Goodman that his image was burned onto the back of her retinas from binging on MTV while babysitting (also a gracious person). Plus: using a photo of her and Mr. T for her holiday card.
As a freelance writer Mimi's covered everything from obsessive collectors, tiny houses and New York's Upfront week to Manhattan galas, museum exhibits and Brooklyn foodie destinations. Book subjects include The Real Housewives (she literally wrote the book on the topic), some of the greatest movies of all time, the agony of high school, several New York City institutions, and more.
In a former life, Mimi studied acting at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, and went on to graduate with a degree in writing from Hampshire College in Amherst, MA.
She currently lives in Brooklyn and is alternately passionate about immersive theater experiences, gardening and thrift store shopping. (Seriously: she would love to sell you some mid century barware or a highly-evocative relic of the 70s.)
